Hey peoples. My name is Chris and I was wondering the same kinds of things. I'm working up at the McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge this summer and I know I'll need to be thinking about what to do next. It's my first time leaving my home city so I'm nervous and excited all at the same time. I'm glad mycoolworks has a job posting. Should help a bit. But any more info from the seasoned vets of this seasonal stuff would be greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't count on unemployment to make it through the off season. Just because you signed a contract to work for a company from one date to another date and you complete that contract. How does that make you eligible for unemployment benefits??

I never thought about unemployment. I assumed since it was contracted work we would not be eligible. Is there a limit on the amount of time you must have worked or other things such as state of residency vs. location of job?

So as long as we finish our contracts we will be able to get unemployment even if i live in California and am planning to move to Nevada. on another note is it easy to find a winter job to move on to?

unemployment is great. I live in Ohio and as long as I fininsh my contract, it is easy to collect thru an interstate claim. The amount I get is just enuf to cover the camping spot I use in the Virgin Islands and an occasional/daily bottle of rum. it doesnt get much better.

It will be hard to be thinking about the end of work before I have even started. It's like going to a dinner party and immediately asking the host when you can leave. But being new at all of this seasonal work, it is something else to learn about.
