I don't think those are necessarily mutually exclusive. Some people, probably myself included, probably did it first to fill a time in life, then realized that maybe that's the type of person they were. Or maybe not. I'm probably just about done with my seasonal work stint, so I might just be full of it. :)

I find myself in both.
1) Seasonally because as well as you, I am a college student and only have the summers off.

2) I am the kid of person who likes to travel and move around and I dont' want to be stuck behind a desk all day.

So I guess you could say its up to what i'm doing and the reasons behind.

Hello,

Interesting question you have.

After having had a career or two I entered into working Seasonaly within a National Park. Have you ever worked in a place where you walked into a room and it was a sea of cubicales?

I spent 7 years in such a place and I am now rewarding myself with 7 years in the Wilderness.

It had to be done...

My life had been consumed with the daily grind of meeting corporate goals that never paid off to me in the end.

Well anyhow I have filled my lungs with fresh air and have stood on some amazing Peaks. I have 4 years to go to reach my goal. Who knows maybe I have found that new career.

I could go back to the cubical but the trail head is calling...

Cubicles are over-rated. I have worked in a place with them and thankfully always had an office nearby because I had confidential files (HR and DOT stuff). We called the cubicle folks "prairie dogs." :)

Keep on breathin' that fresh air. Follow your gut - it usually leads you to the right places.

I am fortunate to have the best of both worlds--I get to work year-round in a national park. I love what I do, and I love the variety of experiences and people I interact with during the peak season. I would say I chose the park life because of who I am, not the time in my life.

For the record, my family thinks I am a crazy nomad. ;)
