Hey guys and gals. I was looking into Alyeska Resort in AK and was wondering if anybody has worked there or knew someone that worked there. Hope to hear something good. Would really like to head up to AK so even if you haven't been to Alyeska but have been to AK, would still like to know how it was. Thanks a lot!
I love Alyeska. I haven't worked there, but I have skiied there and Girdwood is such a cute town, if you can even call it a town. If you don't mind being a bit a way from the city, it would be a really cool place to be.
Highlights of Girdwood and vicinty:
The Double Musky Restaurant
The Kobuk Jade Co.
Seward Highway and Turnagain Arm
Portage Glacier
Littlej, I went to Alaska and stopped in Girdwood at the hostel there for a few nights. Girdwood is of course the town Alyeska is in. Alyeska was allright, in fact I looked into working there that summer, but housing was an issue as they didn't have any employee housing other than links to the area, a situation which it seems to me has since been resolved. What Kari had to say is true.
I inadvertently signed up for some kind of friend request.
Girdwood is cool but expensive. I enjoyed my time there. Not a whole lot to do and a little heavy on the drugs it seemed, but not in a terribly bad way. People were surprisingly nice, much much nicer than in Fairbanks. It's also one of the most beautiful places I've had the pleasure to go to. Very laid back, hippie-ish town.
