A Whitewater Rafting Guide School! Have any suggestions?

I'm interested in enrolling in a guide school to become a Whitewater Rafting Guide. I've seen dozens of websites and read about all sorts of schools that claim to be the best. Anyone on here attended one that they would recommend or not recommend? Any info on a school or job would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hey bud,
They have some rafting guide schools in Vail that are very topnotch. They begin in early Spring and last a couple of weeks, with the top largest part of the class being hired.
If you watch the Vail Daily on-line classifieds, you'll see the ads. I know at least a couple of the companies are like 20 years old and we have booked them extensively in the upscale hotels I've worked.

Thanks for the 411. I'll check it out.
Nova Guides is one of the bigger, well-established companies.
Hey there,

I've been a guide for 10 years. I'd recommend trying to get on as a trainee at a rafting company. I've never known any guides who paid to go to guide school. I imagine it's pretty expensive. It's sometimes tough to get that first job, depending on the area and how many applicants they have, but if you're tenacious and persistent, you'll eventually get something that'll get you in the door. My advice: Don't waste your money.
