Living & Working in Great Places

Nuanduti

Animals, nature and american culture is what I wish my next future!

Dear ALL, I'm now moving to NYC for a while (three months), improving my language and and trying to find out some interesting schools in the fiel of Pets Care or Veterinary technician. Before starting those studies, I really wish to realize my greatest dream, which is that of attending an Equine Massage School in WV. As soon as I'll get enough money to pay for my three months course, I'll certainly do it. I Love HORSES and pets, and nature and would love to feel these passions on site even for a temporary period. I'm a hard working girl, not afraid about long shifts or hard jobs. I have PASSION and LOVE inside me for animals and nature, please help me realize this dream!
Someone was talking about Yosemite National Park, which is an amazing place to work in the summer and that many international students have been already hired there.
Do you think I can apply for a seasonal job there? Anything will be fine for me, even housekeeping. Or do you suggest me any other great and COOL place to stay?
I'm having real troubles with getting a temporary visa. It seems that it won't be easy for us italians to come and have the chance to enrich our experience on site. I love HORSES. Please, visit my page if you wish. I hope you can help me somehow!
Best wishes and kind regards from ITALY!
Nancy ;)

Hi Nancy! Saw your posting and thought that I'd write you. I worked at Grand Teton National Park last summer, and will do so again this summer. The company that I work for is Grand Teton Lodge Co. They have a great web site... check it out. They hire about 1000 peoplpe every summer to work in the park . Everything that is offered to the guests, such as, horseback riding, whitewater rafting, boating, etc. is given to the employees as a perk(no cost to us!!!!). The Park is considered "The Serengeti" of North America.....Bison, Elk, Deer ,Bears, moose are seen on a regular daily basis in the Park. You get paid minimum wage (some jobs are less plus tips....folks w/tips made good money last summer), a place to live(dorm style) and food for about $60 every 2 wks. There were folks from 23 different countries and all states there last summer. We had a blast! It really didn't seem like working to me. There is an airport in Jackson Hole...about 45 min. south of the Lodge, and we can pick you up at the airport if you make the prior arrangements. Feel free to use me as a reference if you would like..Kathy Brekken. My e-mail is:sunnyelk@yahoo.com. Check it out and get back to me if you want. Take care and hope to see you this summer..this place will make your dreams come true! Kat

Hi Kat, thanks a lot for your kindest email!! I really enjoyed it! I'm moving to NYC by the end of February and cannot join you at Grand Teton National Park. :( Well, I do not know yet how things will go on and if I'll be able ro find out a job in the Big City to pay for my rent and earn enough money to travel the next months. I saw that at Grand teton they hire only for seasonal jobs, so I guess that it will be impossible to apply for a winter position. Am I correct? I'll be doing dog sitting and massage in NY (hope so...I have some interviews) and see what happens. Of course my dream is that of studying and working in the field of horses, animals and nature and highly hope to reach you there soon. My problems is still VISA, even for this seasonal jobs they won't issue a working visa. Will this be a problem for you or can I come and work even without a visa? Thanks and hope to meet you once!!! Hi Kat, sorry I came back to you after so much time, maybe you even do not remember me. You suggested me to apply at Grand Teton National Park and I just did it. I'm now living in NYC since a month but found it out very difficult to get a job with horses and pets. I'm so kind of desperate, noone wants to give a job with horses just because of the visa and I feel I just want to give up.
I'm very said. Bloody visa, I don't know what to do!
Hope a ranch will hire me and help me get this visa. I've tried everything.
I mentioned you on the application form.

Thanks again KAT!

Hope everything will be fine for you!
And...hope to meet you at the ranch.

Nancy
