Hey, I might be headed to Haines AK mid April-ish.
I'm in Bellingham WA right now and would consider catching a ride up with you to that general area and just throwing in for gas. Do you still have room?
what are you thinking about for your schedule/route, and how much do you think it might be for gas?

thanks

You might consider taking the ferry, especially if you are already in Bellingham. I think the ferry leaves every friday from Bellingham and arrives in Haines/Skagway on monday. You can camp on the deck if you want. I think if you go in april you still pay winter fares so it should be less expensive than gas.

a 350 dollar ferry is less than paying for half the gas to get to AK by car??

it 797 to put ur car on a ferry than an other 395 for your body just from bellingham to haines then another 800 miles

welllll maybe not. I drove up from Portland and it ran about $500 in my little pickup(but it also broke down in the Yukon and I hitchhiked to Alaska). Driving up from Minneapolis this winter was about $1000 in gas in a new chevy colorado(also a small pickup). I mean it depends on the vehicle, also gas prices are much higher in Canada. It also depends a lot on where you are going in AK, it's a big state. If you were just headed to Haines, it's still over a 800 mile drive to Denali

But whatever you decide to do it will be awesome. If you drive you get to see BC and the Yukon. If you take the ferry you see the inside passage.

Hello, I am heading up to Talkeetna late April. I was going to try to drive from Florida but that proved a little more expensive than I thought. I am a road trip junkie and really do not want to miss Canada by flying over it. Where in California are you driving from?

I am very interested in working in Alaska this summer. Who is working at Danali? And what have you heard about it? Is it too late to apply? I live in Seattle and plan on driving my truck up there. Would love to caravan with some cool folks. I'd appreciate any advice on cool places to apply. Any info helps. Thanks. Take care.

this is my 3th year going to Denali to work 7th for play. Its super easy to get a job. Princess is the company I work for up there. you can go to www.princessjobs.com or on coolworks.com go to alaska jobs and princess is under that listing. if you apply Denali is the easiest place to get a job and the employee housing is the niciest. There are alot of people who work for that resort.
And if you do end up getting a job i'd be more then happy to have unother person in our caravan.

have fun
