Desiree,
My wife and I are moving to Seward. I am leaving before her in April about the 14th. My dad is going to be taking the road trip with me. I am in the San Francisco Bay area. I am hoping the drive will only take me 7 days. Weather can still be questionable in April and a caravan is safer than being alone.
My e-mail is btp419@aol.com.

When do you think you will be driving thru Washington. I too am headed to Alaska, and would love to follow some others. I'm leaving Vermont around the 13th or 14th of April. I have to be there by the 24th.

Desiree, Do you have a caravan put together? I think that there is safety in numbers when taking a road trip like this. I will be leaving the Bay area on afternoon of the 13th. I was planning on stopping by a friends house in Houston in the mat-su valley. This will be my first time driving the road. Have you driven the Alcan in April before and know what kind of conditions to expect? I am hoping that the drive will not take more than 6 days. My father has a flight out of Anchorage on the 20th so I am allowing a little extra time incase weather or other things slow us down. Sounds like we will be taking the same route up there.

I drove the alcan in late April and had clear roads the entire way, just a few potholes. I drove it last December and it was snow covered most of the way, which actually made for a better drive. I think April is kind of pothole season so watch the road and watch the gas tank because some of the gas stations outside of towns are closed until May. it's just a long scenic drive, enjoy it.

Spend a night at Liard hot springs in northern BC. The springs are awesome, especially after a long drive. and the people that run the little lodge/diner there are cool.

i drove it last year, I was at Dawson Creek around the 19th of April there was still snow and ice in spots. I take it that you are going to drive straight thru. If you are going Canada side be pepared to pay alot more for gas. I also am driving to AK. is anyone leaving the Washington area around the 25th of April I will be leaving VT. around the 21st,so just wanted to know if anyone want's to follow each other.
