I've been hired for summer season at Jackson Lake Lodge in Grand Teton NP.
If any of you have worked here, please drop a line with anything I need to know regarding dorm life, employee rec program, etc.
I worked for Xanterra at GCSR for the past 11 months and am so ready for a change.
Hi Karen, thanks for the message! I am currently in the Orlando, FL area until it's time to head for Wyoming.
I will be working as an associate in the main gift shop. The man who offered me the position said it would be mainly working with Native jewelry and crafts, which is one of my strong points.
What will you be doing there? When is your start date?
Do you want to try to arrange a rideshare? I'll split costs of course!

Yoooohoooo! Way to go... the guy you were yaking about must be Wyatt... He is a hoot and the area you will be working in is good... it is on the mail lodge floor and you will have windows that you can see out of.
Hmmmm.... what do you need to know about GTLC? First, it is a fun company to work for. You will have lots of time to go, see and do. This company is one of the better organized ones for the employees. If you have a day off and want to go to town, there is a way to get there... tours are free to the employees for the Tetons and for Yellowstone. Scenic float trips, breakfast cruise on the lake or by horseback, mid-week activities...etc.
Having a car will give you more freedom... but it really isn't necessary to have one. The horse corrals are at Jackson Lake Lodge, Coutler Bay and even at Jenny Lake. As previously stated by another person, the Whistle Pig is an employee hang out with two large screen tv's and computer access, just in case you don't have a laptop. If you have a laptop, there is WiFii on Dorm Street for the employees to access. Most of the dorms are set up just like at college - two or four to a room depending upon where you are housed. Some of the dorms are old (built mid-50's) and some are new (built within the last ten years). Everything is in walking distance to the lodge. Including the swimming pool which never seems to warm up to me, but it fun.
hi angel thanks for the msg, can't say I know the ppl you named but I was in retail and didn't know many servers/hotel staff
Ann!!! Yes, it was Wyatt who called with the job offer. He sounded very nice. I simply cannot wait to check out the employee options you mentioned! I didn't think they'd let you use the pool, even! lol
I don't have a car so I am definately hoping to get on some free tours like you mentioned.
Sounds like heaven compared to South Rim
sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet
You will love GTLC. You'll never get sick of looking at the Tetons. The lightning storms are awesome. Usually there's a moose and her baby that take up residence at the lodge. Almost every night you can hear the coyotes howling. Bring a rug, the dorm floors get dusty. Bring tons of lotion, lip balm and sunscreen. It's really dry, especially when you first arrive and you're not used to it. When I was there in 2005 they had a water aerobics class at the pool, but that water was cold! There is a shuttle to town every day. Don't over pack. The K-mart and Smith's have reasonable prices on stuff. Don't bring any super-nice clothes. Some of mine got ruined in the washer and dryers. What can you expect for free?! Make sure you visit the library (they have public computers and the library card is free), go to a rodeo and visit one of the art fairs. The place gets in your blood and you will come back!
I worked at JLL Summer 2005. It's gorgeous! Dorm life is good - free laundry! Meals are good and varied - they always have salad bar! Shared bathrooms, but they're good at cleaning them several times a day. The employee bar, The Whistle Pig, has awesome cheese sticks and is a fun place to hang out with tv. Activities are great - do the tours of Grand Teton and Yellowstone, the float trips, and the horseback riding! Have a great time!
I've never worked for them but I have lived in Jackson Hole (the town) before and have always heard good things about them. It's an amazing area - so beautiful. I think you'll enjoy being there.
thanks to everyone for this great info , I can hardly wait! it sounds WORLDS better than the year I just spent at Grand Canyon South Rim! (ugh, talk about DRY)
I think I am most looking forward to the free tours, the pool (even if it's cold), learning to ride, and going to Jackson!
awesome go too pacific creek and do some camping for spring is gorgeuos fresh air you, llsee lots of moose and her calves go too lunch tree hill and just hangout enjoy friend flowers everywhere man i miss too.
hey Larry,
Dornans is the best place to be all the people there are really cool, signal mt is another cool place that is down the road a bit,the best thing about dornans is that it is very close to the brand new interpretive center,if you have never been to the tetons before the center is the best place to get informed about the park, and you will want to eat at the "chuckwagon" good luck
Rather than looking for folks with established river skills, we are simply looking for physically fit men and women that learn quickly, aren’t afraid of hard work, are fun outgoing and people oriented, and have an eye for detail.
