Living & Working in Great Places

Need some suggestions...

I graduate w/ a BBA (bach of business administration) on May 10th. At the current moment I have about enough money for a plane/bus ticket anywhere, but not much else. I'm so ready to get out of this town (24 yrs has been more than enough..), but I don't have enough cash to move else where and pay all the deposits and such on an apt.

So I thought maybe a seasonal position where room and board is included would be a good idea, but I've waited so long I figure most places have probably already hired, but I'm hoping someone might have some suggestions based on the things I need/want.

** I would love to be as close to Boise Idaho as possible- thats where my boyfriend. I'm sick of being 2,500 miles from him. But since I probably can't afford to drive to where I'll be working I'm not too sure that being near him will matter much. But yea, the PNW or Alaska would be great.

**I need a place where room and board are included (or taken out of the paycheck).

**Based on my current bills at the moment (car, insurance, and cell) I need to be making at LEAST $600 to break even each month. OF course it would be nice if I had at least a little cash at the end of summer, so more would be better.

I mainly have experience in clerical type work and working w/ children, but I'm not above doing housekeeping, waiting tables, or washing dishes.

They have a good deal of office positions that support their lodging, sales and marketing departments. They would probably start you out in reservations or front desk, but it's a foot in the door, at least. If you are a seasonal employee, you would receive room and board at about $300 a month; year-round office staff usually live in the nearby town of Gardiner, MT. There are also ski resorts and guest ranches in Idaho that would be closer to Boise. The Rocky Mountain Northwest states (Montana, Wyoming, Idaho) are littered with seasonal opportunities in the hospitality industry (mostly because they are only accessible or interesting or above freezing six months out of the year.) Check out the job listings on Coolworks and see what interests you.; ▶ Reply to This

See the local paper (Jacksonholenews.com) and despite your degree, waiting tables or bartending will be the best way to make $$$ and a lot of it. There are a lot of people hiring now and it is not that far from you. In fact, the whole Yellowstone/Teton region is awash in work now... and most offer a place to stay. If you have to pay rent, the tipped positions will more than make up for the cost. Good luck.... akscootr; ▶ Reply to This

Permalink Reply by cody on April 21, 2008 at 3:25pm: i reccomend waiting tables. i had friends doing that at signal mountain lodge in grand teton national park.(a great place to work! room and board out of check!) they made sooo much money, and had the most versitile hours. one friend of mine lived very well while there, and managed to save $2,000! it's closer to boise than you are now, but still a drive.; ▶ Reply to This
