What a delima. I have 3 job offers. I will tell you where, and please comment if you have worked at any of the 3. I have been offered a job at Martha's Vineyard, as a transit driver, at Mesa Verde as a tram driver, and at Grand Targhee Resort as an employee shuttle driver. They all sound good. Thanks so much for any input.

Only comment I could make is to be sure to notify the two "loosers" as soon as you decide on a "winner".
You have a choice between Seaside, Desert and The Tetons. I am glad I don't have to make that decision.
I just thought I would pass along a couple of ways I chose my first seasonal job out of the offers I received last summer, maybe it will help you with your choice. First for me was cost of transportation to get there. I was on a very tight string and couldn't afford to drive 8 billion miles from home. The second was the size of the company. I had worked for a large national retail chain for the past almost 4 years and I didn't want to end up working for a large company with a lot of the same employment issues. (Long hours, horrid shifts, irregular shifts, strange rules, disconnected management, etc.). One of the companies that called me back informed me in the first sentence that they had 1000's of employees, I wasn't down with that. The third being the HR person you talked to on the phone. I had a job I would have adored but the two people that called me to talk to me about the job didn't sound passionate about their work or really that interested in me or the job, so I passed. The job I ended up taking was for a small company (about 80 people), a FANTASTIC management staff (all the way up at that, they were into the park and just super happy to have me), and somewhere I could afford to travel to for fairly cheap. So maybe this will get you thinking and help you make your decision.
I turned down a position @ Martha's Vinyard ; I'm not so sure I made the right decision... But when I choose a place, I tend to choose according to the environment I prefer (and sometimes $$$ potential). That would be the Tetons hands down. Perhaps you can talk to all three potential employers and go with your instincts (feel their vibe). I think that would be the best way... good luck! :0)
i have a friend at Grand Targhee. She loves it.
We were at Mesa Verde last year... there was no supervisor for the "Transportation Department", as they called it, and it was an unorganized mess. Management there was a joke, and if you are in "company housing" you'll be sharing a 10' X 12' shed with 6' high ceilings with a room mate. No insulation, no air conditioning and only a small portable heater for the cold nights. (You've probably seen them, they are sold by places like Home Depot as pre-made utility sheds.) Fortunately, we have our own RV. We left early for other reasons. We really couldn't recommend Mesa Verde.
Thanks so much Ben and Karen! I did turn it down because they said up to 4 people in a room! Horrors-especially at my age! But it sounded so isolated, and hard to get out of there to sightsee. It did look beautiful. I will just have to make a visit there on my own. Down to 2 choices. Cathy
So which one is it???
LOL...probably Martha's Vineyard-it's much closer, and it does pay pretty good. I called Mammoth Cave today as well, as they might still need drivers. but he said that business is down 25% from normal, and they aren't sure if it will get better. Probably a sign of things to come for all the touristy things. Thanks for asking! Cathy
I was in Montana and Wyoming... they all feel the same about a slow season. Gas prices.... Marthas Vinyard will probably work well if you want a place closer to you...
I worked on Nantucket for many summers. I used to take the ferry over to the Vineyard. It is amazing. But it is expensive to live on Cape Cod, and housing this late in the season can be tricky.
Has anyone ever waited to be recalled to Yosemite?  They say that we are supposed to get recalled automatically but waiting is HARD!  Any info concerning this is very much appreciated!  Thanks,  Cathy
