My CoolWorks

Living & Working in Great Places

Hey Y'all,

First off, I work for CoolWorks.com so I really hope that the answer is yes. : ) Second of all, I have tried twice to get CoolWorks.com added to Wikipedia because we believe it should be there based on its longevity (in business since 1995) and the fact that we hear from users all the time about how their lives are better because of their time in the seasonal world and the jobs they found on Cool Works.

So, the question goes to you. Do you feel that we belong there? If CoolWorks.com has changed your life, how has it changed?

On the flipside, are there things that we can do better? We have a bunch of cool stuff in the works and we always want to serve you, the user, better, so please feel free to share your thoughts here too.

Thanks for being a part of our tribe. We value your comments, blogs, photos, sharing, stories, and above all, wisdom.

Best,
Kari

It is by far the best civilian experience I have ever had... see some of my prior descriptions. I think I would be bored and hating life if I had not discovered Coolworks... I meet people all the time who wish they could let go of their worldly possessions to live this way. I frankly can't understand why they don't.

If you can ever get Americans to work overseas to see other parts of the world, or at least suggest resources, it may improve Coolworks somewhat. But it is great as is, and I thank you guys for what you do. I gave up a business to do this and it was one of the best things I have ever done :0)... don't stop!

I am a proud "Coolworker" Akscootr

Hi all!
Well I gave it a try. I moved back to the "real world " back in April. It isn't working! I'll be back on the road west again on Monday!! I guess once you start this lifestyle it becomes a way of life. I'm addicted.
It's a big cut in pay, oh well, there's mountains there that I haven' t hiked yet. It all works out!
THANKS COOLWORKS!!

Thank you Scott and Ken! We're glad to help. : )

I thought I would add that CoolWorks.com has changed my life too for the better. I must admit that I found my first adult seasonal job via the newspaper, and my dad putting it in front of my face, instead of using this website. But, had it not been for Kathi at CoolWorks.com, Gray Line of Alaska would not have been able to get their recruiting off the ground. She helped me to set up their first seasonally focused recruiting website because corporate wasn't moving fast enough. Then, at Princess Tours, Bill was our rep for our applicant tracking system, something I now do for Princess as a part of my CoolWorks.com duties, and that made our recruiting easier. CoolWorks.com has always kept the employers I worked for at the cutting edge of summer job recruiting. Plus, they've always been cool folks to work with. Now it's even better because I'm one of them and I'll always be grateful to Bill for that.

So how has CoolWorks.com changed my life? Probably the biggest benefit to me is the flexibility of this job. I get to work at home, which my kitties love, and I get to control my time. I get to help employers all over the US advertise their jobs knowing that folks like those on My CoolWorks might get to do them. I get to advise job seekers on the best places to work in the US and around the world. I get to build my small photography business because I have less stress in my life and more flexibility with my time. I get to volunteer at the Puget Sound Blood Center and help them in their cause of saving lives by handing out cookies. : ) I get to be a better citizen of this world because I work for a company that cares.

So here is my wish for everyone who uses CoolWorks.com. I wish that more people would follow their dreams and find what truly makes them tick. And, my humble belief is that it's most likely not working on the top floor of a giant skyscraper, but instead it's digging a ditch in a national park or teaching a child how to throw a frisbee correctly. May each person be able to cherish the simple things in their lives even if it's for just a moment every day.

What a great story, Kari! I'm happy for you. I am doing my very best to fullfill my part of your wish! I think I am a bit late applying for winter jobs, but I keep trying! My dream would be to work at a dude ranch in Arizona. It seems like they are all full though. If you know of anything, please let me know!!! I'm very excited to start my dream life!

Coolworks has changed me forever. I found two awesome jobs via Coolworks over the years. The first was for Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, OH (2001-2003) and then I found my Security position here at Mt. Rushmore via a "Help Wanted Now" ad back in 2006. I am now finishing up my 3rd season here.

I have met many new friends that will still be a part of my life years after I have moved on to other things. Thanks CoolWorks! :)

First...my answer was getting so long I decided to make a blog entry for the bulk of my response.

Second...what does Wikipedia need? That Montauk Monster thing had it's own listing a couple of days after it hit the net...

Third...I like the recent changes. It just looks cleaner. I was wondering if there could possibly be an extension on the myCoolworks last and favorite to include a listing of all the places we've been.

Great suggestion, Keith. We'll add "everywhere you've been" to our questions. : )

Wikipedia just needs for the entry to sound non-marketing, very factual, and show that we're noteworthy/notable. I think we are, but I've tried twice and got booted twice. I half wonder if a non-CoolWorks person (i.e. not Bill, Kathi, Eric, Patty or myself) entered it whether or not it would stay. Who knows. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hey Keith,

Great suggestion. I just added the question "Where have you lived and worked?". Does that cover it or would a different phrase get at it better?

I hope you're having a great weekend out there.

Hi Kari and all,
Thanks for sharing your stories! This was a great thread... I love reading people's "success stories".... Coolworks is definitely changing lives.. Mine's about to change when I head off to Colorado in search of a seasonal job at a ski resort, most of the leads on jobs I got right here at Coolworks, so I'm ready for the change to happen! Good luck to everyone!
