Living & Working in Great Places

Hey guys. Just discovered the site a few days ago. Very exciting stuff. I would love to rock out in wyoming or colarado or anywhere for that matter, but i have bills here and payments and ...well i guess what i really would like to know is if anyone has actually took off to a job 3 thousand miles away and "made it" financially that is. And whats the deal with free housing a lot of the employers offer ?

Thanx for any input guys!

You won't get rich in the seasonal world, but you can make some money. The pay tends to be low but the cost of living is extremely inexpensive compared to the "real world". We know many people paying off student loans, etc., by working in the seasonal world. Just remember, in the seasonal world the job you have to do to be there shouldn't be why you are there.

Well I don't know what your financial situation is. Resort work historically is not a high paying proposition for alot of people. You can "make it" if you budget and get the job you want. The free housing is always questionable. I'll be working at a resort that offers "free housing" but they will always find a way to work your rent in to your paycheck , although I could be dead off on this too.Check the websites and ask questions of the human resources staff when thinking of going to work somewhere. I wish you the best of luck and I hope you do come out "west"!

I arrived in Homer w/ 40.00 left to my name 3 1/2 months ago. I now have bought a van, insurance, registered it, and have several thousand $$$ in the bank after paying off bills. You may not get rich in this business, but as a waiter/bartender you sure can get ahead and caught up quickly.
Food business can = free meals and rent can be free, or near free, if you camp out (as have most of us have here in Homer, on the spit). Front of house can mean 20-30 an hour take-home. The trick is to be able to save the $$$ you make and not waste it.... The seasonal business WORKS, if you work it...
