Yes, it is almost 100 miles from "anywhere", I went there in the spring of last year...soon asI got there they gave me a drug test...no big deal... but, they "mislead me abot housing and the per hour wage that we had agreed upon..so I left!! I didn't want to sleep 4 to a room in a 2 bedroom trailer. Also, the food that they "allow" employee's to eat sucks! It is a desloate desert place, so if you like isolation and rocks N sand...lol
Thanks for your reply. I will certainly take your observations into account as it would be a long ride for me (from FL). I was surprised to hear your comments about the sleeping arrangements. On their site they don't say anything about living in trailors! Thanks, Chris
The sleeping arrangements leave alot to be desired. The trailers are OLD!! Oh, they were clean etc. but I just didn't care for the whole 9 yards...a big letdown.. on the bright side I wound up on the Beautiful Lake Couer D'Alene in northern Idaho.
The trailors..is that all there was? Do you think it's because you were a single guy(I presume)? You said the food sucked, how bad was it? How was Idaho?
Thanks Jim for your input. Sorry I didn't reply sooner...been a bit busy. The menu you described does not sound that bad. Do you know if they have accomodations for couples? You mentioned the town being 80 miles away, which town is that and what is there. Restaurants, shopping etc? I am presuming you worked at Big Bend, what did you do and how was the weather?

I worked there from May to mid Sept in the accounting office. It is a very remote park - 2 hours from anywhere of any size. SO it's best to have your own wheels. Forever Resorts does NOT offer any transportation to Alpine (nearest city of any size). There is a store with basic supplies in PJ and at Chisos. There are two areas to live in - dorms in Chisos which house 8 females and 8 males....4 bedrooms and 2 baths with living area, sat tv and kitchen in each dorm. Males live downstairs..females up. I did not eat in employee dining room much - bought my groceries and used dorm kitchen...their meals didn't suit me. The other place to live is in trailers in Panther Junction. This is where most younger people live. The trailers are TERRIBLE...old and dirty but you do have your own bedroom sometimes. They also have just finished building a new dorm but no one has moved into them yet..not sure how they determine sho gets new dorm. PJ is in the desert so it's hot in the summer while Chisos is in the mountains and much cooler. My main complaint was the GM who was a micro manager and loved to yell at people. Good news is he is leaving in January going to Crescent Lake. Hiking is awesome in Big Bend but if you don't like hiking you will need to find something to keep you busy on off days cause FOrever Resorts offers nothing for employees. Good luck! Let me know what you decide. I still know people there.
