Living & Working in Great Places

I know its pretty early but wanted to start finding people that are heading up to Alaska. I would like to split gas and ride with someone. I might bring my truck if I find someone that wants to ride with me. I would be leaving from Milwaukee WI, possibly going up thru twin cities, Bozeman, and Seattle.

I'm due in Denali April 25th. If anyone is headed up before that (but not too much before that) let me know. Not planning on taking my car but that could change. I might just have to fly considering the end of April is pretty early for most people headed north...

Would love to have you ride with me to Fairbanks, but I am leaving Great Falls on March 30th...and yes. the law extended the passport form 2008 to 2009...so I think you need one...you can get it at the postoffice....about 115.00...take your birth certificate....and they will mail both back to you in separate envelopes in about 3 weeks...piece of cake...susan

I am driving with my friend and we may have an extra spot once we figure out my roof rack situation. I'm open to any suggestions on which way maybe best to take. I know that pass thru Yukon is at its worst at the time Im planning on concurring it.

Hey what's going on? I don't know what the answer is yet but I had my second interview today, I should know by Friday. If I do get hired I'm leaving here On May 1st via Missoula. I drive an old subaru but she still works like a charm. I was going to drive by myself but if you want to join you're more than welcome to. Let me know what your plans are. I've always driven the country by myself but it would be fun to have someone to talk too along the way! :D Let me know...

Why don't you all take the Alaskan Marine Highway to Juneau? You all could meet in Seattle and spend a few days and then take the train(which I recommend) or the bus to Bellingham and hop on the ferry there. You can camp out on the ferry. I've done it twice and it is the best way to travel. You don't have to worry about getting cold because there are huge heaters overhead when you are outside and you can always go inside. There is a cafeteria, they show movies and public showers on the ship. If you have to drive you can take your car on the ferry and get off in Juneau or elsewhere. Great for people who don't have passports.

Dominic and All, I'm up for a caravan!!!I'm planning on getting up there the 28th, leaving the 13-16. Don't have any riders yet so you're more than welcome to come along! I just did a price check on gas at mapquest, apparently it thinks the trip will cost $238.00 total from Seattle to Fairbanks. Not too shabby, I thought it would be more. So we're probably looking at like $100-150(if gas fluctuates) a person. Anyways I'm goin' all the way to coldfoot, as you might know so we could drive the Dalton together too, that would be fun! I'm also planning on getting a CB radio for my rig, they're cheap and might just be the only communication in coldfoot if generator goes down. Also I think it would be fun to chatter with the truckers :) This is Funky Chicken over and out!
