Any Americans work in Canada?

Was thinking of trying to work at Whistler-Blackcomb next winter, does anyone know how difficult or easy it is to get a work permit in Canada? Whistler's websites state they will not give employment letters for visa's, and encourage folks to get a Working Holiday Visa. However that's only available to those countries in the British Commonwealth, not America. Does anyone have any more information which could help me?

I don't like to burst your bubble, but I've never seen an American working up at Whistler in all of my visits over the last few years. Mostly the staff come from Australia / New Zealand because they can spend their summer up here during our winter.
