Living & Working in Great Places

I want to buy a new digital camera before I head out west in May... one that will take decent picture of the landscape, the sky, clouds, etc... I'm looking at kodak easyshare between 10-11 pixels... I cant afford anything fancy, so i'm kinda stuf in the 10-11 pixel range.

There are so many beautiful pics in your profiles, and i was wondering how many of them were taken with a simple digital camera, and what brand you would recommend. I'd like spend around $150 or less.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Jason - Costco is great and 10-11 mega pixels is more than enough power to get a good image. I'm a Canon fan, but there are a lot of great cameras out there.

I have a Canon Powershot s5 IS and it is an excellent camera; It uses the same processor that their beginning pro cameras use. It is around 250.00 now... All of my recent photos are taken using that particular camera. Good luck...akscootr

I'll second the recommendation for the Canon Powershot S series. I had an S1 and still have an S3, both great cameras. Akscootr, does the S5 have a remote? The S1 had one but when I busted it and replaced with the S3 they had removed that feature.

For a smaller camera I can also recommend the Powershot SX100 IS or whatever the latest version is. I bought it specifically for backpacking as the S3 is a little large to tote around. Not as outstanding pics as the S3, but still great, and has all the manual operations if you want them, but still the standard range of point and shoot if you prefer to have a techie in Japan choose your settings.

Sorry, hit the add button before I finished.

If you want a small pocket size camera, the Powershot A720 IS is also a neat little camera.

To give you an idea of each's pictures, some links below. Bear in mind that the pictures have been reduced in size and quality for web display, they all printed out wonderfully:

I have a Sanyo S1070 that I got at Walmart (about 2 weeks ago) for my photography class and my upcoming season at Yellowstone. It is a VERY good camera and my family was pleasantly surprised. It was 50% off just because it was last years version. I only paid $50.00. Can't beat that so try Walmart and see if they are trying to get rid of old models.
My camera has 10 Mega Pixels, 3x optical zoom, digital anti-blur and a lot more. I hope I helped.

I went with a few mp less, but picked up a decent zoom. It can be really disappointing trying to show people how close you were to a bear when it kind of looks like a dog.

This is a cool way to mind map your decision process for buying a camera.
