Is Alaska going to be cold in the summer? Rick said it'd be probably 60's-70's, but will it really be so?

Has anyone been there who could maybe give me a few tips?

Hey Millicent!  I was in Ak last summer and it was both cold and warm.  I would walk at about 5 am and dress in my patagonias with light clothes over that.  Then dress for work with my uniform and jacket.  Usually by lunch it had warmed up and was nice, til it started to get into early evening, then cool off.  Toward the end of the season it pretty much stayed colder in the am, 50's in the afternoon, and so on.  Just bring lots of light, layerable clothes and you should be fine.  Don't forget the rain gear!  Where are you going?  When?  What position?
I'm going to be in Denali park at the Mt. McKinley lodge. I'll be there May 3rd. I'm going to be a Custodian lead.
it's not too bad, this year should be great weather since last year was pretty rainy. It kind of depends on where you are working though, alaska seems to have pretty varying temps. I've worked and visited the past three summers, basically staying in the kenai area, but traveling as far north as the artic circle. I'm going back in may for another summer working. Good luck!
Oh man, the Arctic Circle? Are we allowed to go there? Or is it dangerous? Where have you worked?
Love the title of your discussion .... it seems to mirror the sentiment of so many that are more than ready to leave on their summer adventures! :-) Have fun when ya finally get there!
Thanks, you're definitely right, I'm very excited to get there.
All I can say is plan for every season, Last season I was there and I got to camp on May 14th and it was still freezing at night and snowed a few times. By mid summer it had started reaching upper 70's. And again by the end of the season September 13th cold and wet. I was located 90 miles with in Denali National Park. So just pack for the worst and pack for the best. And remember it is better to be layered, you can shed some off and put them back in your pack. And also have fun!
Thank you, I never thought it'd be cold in May, I'm nervous because I get cold so easily

the weather varies so much according to location. while in Tok a couple of years ago it was in the upper 80's low 90's in late July, early August. but getting ready to change..BIG TIME

Oh, I hope it's that warm in Denali
