Thanks for being here! The six of us at CoolWorks welcome you and wish you success in finding your Jobs in Great Places®!

I usually do a lot of searching on this forum before I ask a question, so here's my curiosity:  I can't seem to find any commentary on those who do or have done the transportation at the Denali Salmon Bake.  I've spent the past three summers in Skagway, but as much as I love that area, it's time for something new.  Last winter, I worked with someone who said many good things about the Denali Salmon Bake, and I've read other good comments from people on here who have worked there in other positions.  I recently had a discussion with someone where I am for this winter, who knows the person I spoke with last winter, and he said he was full of malarkey, in so many ways.

So yes, now that I am fully situated with my winter job, I am already thinking about next summer, and I'm very interested in driving for the Denali Salmon Bake.  Actually, I applied for that position for this past summer, but they contacted me two weeks after I arrived in Skagway, and I wasn't going to blow off my employer in Skagway.

So any of you CDL drivers out there who have driven for the Denali Salmon Bake, I'm very interested in how that went for you?

I'm glad to see they are looking for qualified drivers.  When I was up in Denali in 2010, I'm sure I remember them just using a variety of part-time extra hour searchers.  All had some kind of license, at least half were J1s.  They just worked for the tips they would get.  Things change fast in some areas.  The Salmon Bake is one of those places where you have to know when someone is talking about it as much as what they are saying.  There are definitely worse gigs than driving between Healy and Denali several times a day.  Good luck.  Is Princess across the street to corporate?

I use to work at Denali and other than driving tour buses in the park Denali Salmon Bake was the place to work.
