Living & Working in Great Places

If someone needed to get to and from Fairbanks from Denali Crows Nest on a weekly basis how would would that be done? I am not taking my car to AK.

train?
Bus?
Is hitchhiking really safe?

If there is an employee shuttle where would I catch it?

Where does someone catch this shuttle? And what are the cost of that shuttle?

It's been free in years past and picks you up in a designated area where you live. We won't really know what this years plan will be until we get there though. If you really need to go to Fairbanks there are people who bring cars, or you can hire a shuttle for about 70.00 per van load. Not bad if you go with some friends.

If its princess you work for the shuttle will run once a week, on a various weekday and leaves at like 8am and doesnt return until 10 pm or later. its free but you have to sign up in advance ( usually front desk of employee housing) and picks up and drops off at Fred Meyer shopping center.

I worked in Denali this past summer. getting around isnt too hard. Though I had a car. several of the people I lived with didnt. Alot of them either found a shuttle, took the train or hitchhiked. I know hitchhiking sounds dangerous but it normal along the parks highway or anywhere in AK really.
Most of the people in my company got around this way. Though we worked in Denali, we lived in a town 12 miles away. the company would shuttle us at scheduled times but if we were to take a hike in the park we had to find our own way home. so everyone just hitched. Its safe, and pretty easy. the locals stop for anyone. Tourists will drive right past though. So if you see a really nice car coming your way its most likely a tourist and they wont be stopping.
And I am sure someone in your company will have a car and if you can ride in with them if they are heading to Fairbanks.
Good Luck and Have fun in Denali. Its a truly special and beautiful place.
