earthquakes in yellowstone anyone here about this
– More earthquakes are rattling Yellowstone National Park.
The small quakes include three more Friday that measured stronger than magnitude 3.0. The University of Utah Seismic Stations say the strongest was 3.5.
Several hundred quakes centered under the northern end of Yellowstone Lake have now occurred since Dec. 26. No damage has been reported.
Earthquake swarms happen fairly often in Yellowstone. But scientists say it's unusual for so many earthquakes to happen over several days.
Yellowstone lies mostly in northwestern Wyoming and is the caldera of a volcano that last erupted 70,000 years ago. Scientists have not concluded what is causing the earthquakes

Well that is really not news to me. My first year in yellowstone we had a whopper of an earth quake that woke me up and sent me and my bed to the other end of the cabin. Another year steamboat caused an earth quake that shooke so hard people for miles were shakin in there boots and could feel it in several locations in the park.

when i was at yellowstone in 06 they had one it was about 10pm when it happen

Yellowstone sits on the New Madrid fault, so earthquaes should be expected. I grew up in southern California, which also sits on many faults.

Isn't the New Madrid fault is in southeastern Missouri

Yes, it is in Missouri, close to the Mississippi River. We occasionally have small earthquakes in Alabama and Tennessee because of the New Madrid.

I've experienced earthquakes every year I've worked there. Same when I lived in LA for 10 years. It is way overdue for a major volcanic eruption - but you can't live your life worrying about all that. Better to be in an earthquake in Yellowstone than in building-ridden LA.
