Thanks for being here! The six of us at CoolWorks welcome you and wish you success in finding your Jobs in Great Places®!

HI everyone, ,

Just wondering if anyone has had success in giving up their "homebase" and doing seasonal work only. I would like to rent out my home for one year, or longer and focus on working only seasonal jobs with room and board.  Just wondering how feasible it is, I worry if there ended up being a large gap between gigs/seasons I would have no where to land.  I could visit family, but that would really only work for a few weeks.

My main goal is to save money and to do some travel.  I have a summer/fall job in Vermont that will begin May 8th and ends Oct 26.  Looks like most winter gigs begin December/January, which would not be to bad.

Any feedback advice or experience you are will to share is welcome!!

Thank you

I gave up my apartment at the beginning of May 2006 and kept going place to place until October 2016.

The longest periods I had were a 5-week and 6-week.  But they were planned so I could do a month-long workaway during those times.  Average time was 6-14 days.  Shortest time, twice:  Finished one gig in the afternoon, went to airport, flew overnight and was picked up in the morning for the next gig.

I did do the Arizona ranch season several times...that starts end of Sep/early Oct.  And while Dec/Jan is an average winter gig, many have slots that open in November.

When you mix all the variables:  in park, outside of park, short social seasons, catching late season openings, long seasons....  There will be a season starting somewhere at any time of the year.
