Living & Working in Great Places

So i'm hoping to be working at Glacier Park this summer season...but I'm getting a bit antsy having not heard much of anything back from them yet! I applied before the 1st of the year and had a quick chat with one of their HR ladies, but she seemed kind of miffed that I applied last summer, got an offer, and then turned it down because I wanted to work at the same location as my SO (St. Marys, which I also turned down & didn't go up there at all due to a falling out w/ her)

So I haven't heard anything since that last conv. in mid-Dec....is this normal? Would they turn someone down just because they couldn't make it up there the previous year? To clarify I turned it down months before the season started & hadn't signed a contract yet...it just seemed over the phone that they might be holding a grudge or have me black-listed or something...I really hope not cuz I do so want to make it up there this summer! Last year the application process seemed so quick & easy, call back a few days after i sent in my app, phone interview a week or so after that, job offer almost immediately...I realize its still early in the hiring part of their season so I'm not too worried yet but how long do you guys think I should wait to hear from them before looking elsewhere?

Be patient, if they made you an offer, expect to be going.
I went through the same thing last year.
No phone calls returned and no messages to me for weeks.
Then in march they called and asked if I needed to be picked up at the train station.
Do not be discouraged.
It is beautiful up there. Really beautiful.

The offer they made me was for last season, which I turned down. They have not made me an offer yet for this season, or even done a phone interview. (IDK, maybe they can use the phone interview they did last year & they don't have to do another one?) They just wanted to know if I was still interested, which, of course, I said yes. & since I was offered a supervisor position last season (which they have no record of since it was because someone else dropped out that they offered it to me) that is what I applied for this year, but I did let her know that I would be willing to take any type of position just to get the opportunity to work up there. But I am still hopeful because I think I am a skilled & well-qualified applicant; I figure I will give it til mid-Feburary before I start to panic! ;-)

I have been up to Glacier numerous times to visit my gf who worked in East Glacier 2 seasons ago & St. Mary's last summer & yeah I agree it is one of the most beautiful parks I have been to so far & thats why I am so excited to be planning on spending the summer there & will be sadly disappointed if it doesnt work out!

Where did you work at last year?

I also hope to be working at Glacier this summer. I applied rather late I guess (about a week ago). Does anyone know if they still hire this late?

i think it depends on the location...Valerie @ GPI said they did still have a number of jobs available including a few front desk & gift shop positions but it sounded like most of them were housekeeping & food service. Im pretty sure they are still going thru apps & hiring though, probably will be up through the first week or so of may. if i remember correctly their website said they were full up on the internationals, so any jobs they have left would be going to US citizens.
