I'm looking for a fall job (September/October-ish) followed by a winter ski resort job (November-ish) for this year.  As it seems like there are a lot of unhappy people, can anyone recommend some good companies to me?  I'd be looking for front of house F&B, probably serving (and have experience) for both seasonal jobs and I'd be with my boyfriend who's looking for a lifty job for the winter (as a newbie) and possibly cooking or something else for the fall (experienced line cook).  Ideas?  Trying to take into account the actual job, the fellow employees, supervisors, the corporation or employer, the economy, pay, housing, etc.  The 2 seasons could be in 2 different parts of the US or the same place... will be on the east coast for labor day and looking for jobs afterwards.  The winter job I'd like to be in the mountains in a western state (preferably not Colorado) and with a good steep mountain and lots of powdery snow.  Hope to hear some good ideas!!!

I don't think there are a whole lot of fall seasonal jobs out there, but as far as winter jobs go, I worked at Park City Mountain Resort in Utah last winter and it was really cool. They don't provide housing, though, and it's expensive and hard to find in winter. But I would recommend Park City anyway. It's a really cool town.
ya i'm actually really interested in that area.. maybe more salt lake than park city but we'll see. what did you do there? i have a friend that worked at the canyons.... i think as of right now i'm more interested snowbird though. thanks!
I was a cashier at the Mid-Mountain restaurant. I knew some people who worked at the Canyons. I've never been to Snowbird but I heard they get more snow so it's really good for skiing/riding.

ya i've seen them before... will consider it. you've never worked there though??
Great feedback about working at Stanford Camp. Thanks!
we went to aspen for a few days and didn't like it at all... extremely overpriced, waaaaayyy too... glitzy or something (and we weren't even staying in actual Aspen). will look into mt. baker though. thanks
So looking into Snowbird more, it looks pretty damn corporate. Men's hair can't be below their earlobes!! Anyone know if that's just what they write or if they really care? My boyfriend wants to be lifty and has long-ish hair that he can put back and work in a kitchen with.... he's not cutting it for some stupid corporation. Ideas?
A friend of mine worked at Stanford and loved it. I recommend it... and Baker has a good rep also. Alyeska in Girdwood, Alaska has housing and the town absolutely rocks. Good $$$ and a decent economy here also... good luck!
ok i think the fall job is out anyway but i'll remember stanford for later. ok i'll look more into baker.... i live in alaska right now but i wasn't really planning on staying for the winter... have you been here for the winter at alyeska before? like i said, my boyfriend is looking for a lifty job and i'm looking for a serving job.... my boy has kinda long hair.. right now he puts it up when he works as a cook.. but as i've been looking for jobs i've seen quite a few places that say you can't have hair longer than the collar of a shirt..... we're looking for somewhere that isn't like that. do you know about baker or alyeska? was really interested in snowbird then i read that.. now i'm not sure. anyone know about grand targhee?? anything else you know about alyeska or anywhere else let me know!

ps-which restaurant would i want to work at in alyeska? i like working at semi-upscale places... but i also want to work something like a lunch shift (so me and the boy have similar schedules and i still don't have to work too early). money is always appreciated as well. ideas?
Rancho de los Caballeros in Wickenburg,AZ is still. They are open to the public Oct-May.
