Grand Canyon North Rim or Glacier Park Inc?

Hey Marie, I will be joining the North Rim as a line cook this summer. This is my first seasonal job, so I don't know a whole lot about it. But I do know a few things.

I had to dig a little when I was looking for a place last month, and I found the housing rates for Glacier at the bottom of their application. They charge $11/day (about $330 a month), but I do not know what else it covers besides a room. The North Rim charges $13/day (about $390 a month), and includes room, food, laundry, dorm recreation, and wireless internet. Pretty good deal, if you ask me. Both places charge $100 deposit, and the North Rim deducts that from your first two paychecks.

Other than that, one of the major factors to consider is the environment you want to live in. Both are fairly remote, and yes, Glacier is definitely more green than the Grand Canyon. Weather-wise, hard to say. Weather has been weird lately. North Rim is cooler than you may expect, as the elevation is about a mile and a half above sea level.

As for the people, again I can't speak for Glacier. I have been welcomed very warmly by those returning to the North Rim, and that really made everything easier for me. The folks in Human Resources (namely Mike) explained everything that should be expected, and they also started sending out newsletters to those locked in positions.

If you can get some more input from those going to Glacier, then that would definitely help out, since I know I'm a bit biased right now. I hope this info on the North Rim really helps you out!

13/per day North Rim I believe though that was last year I think they went up a couple bucks to like 15. You want green oh yeah the North rim is all green. its all forest. The housing is old and new dorms. The deer and coyotes were abundant last year. Even had a big cat or two a couple of times, but there pretty elusive and don't like to be seen.

I hope they didn't up the price, Mike quoted me $13. Eh, but that's still not bad considering what you're getting for it.

I made a mistake, got confused. but yes they did up the price to $13. Last year it was $11 dollars for room and board and 3 meals a day. so they only went up $2. lol I don't know what I was thinking, but I think I was confusing that with another place.

i would go with the north rim, especially if you've never been to the grand canyon. it's breathtaking.

and the dorms are much better.

I think it would a depend on what kind of environment you want to live in explore. If you want to see the glaciers and northwoods , or desert and canyons.

I haven't been to Glacier before but my friend is going back to work there and I've already secured a job bartneding there, and by "there" I mean Lake McDonald. I looks amazing a I've been told I'll love it and I know that they just built a new dorm. I'm excited about going and am looking for someone to travel with so get the job and travel with me. I'm flying to Seattle and party for a few days and then take the train overnight to East Glacier. Good luck.

GNP is $11 a day room and board which you get back if you complete your contract. $100 deposit due when you get there. Thats what HR told me yesterday anyways.
