some of the corporate employers could probably give you some info on the work visa. Xanterra, forever resort, aramark, etc. xanterra at yellowstone -1307-344-5324

Hi. Kathi here with CoolWorks. Those employers will be back to recruit for next summer at some point during the month it says on their Profile.

Here's the work visa info: http://www.coolworks.com/international-job-seekers/ If you're a student, you can apply for a J1 Work & Travel Visa. The costs vary between agencies. You're responsible for your flight costs. If you're not a student, you would need an H2B visa. These are very difficult to get right now.

You can learn about them here: www.visapro.com. Select H2B from the drop down.

Thanks for your help, I am not a student so would i need a H-2B or a Q-1?? im looking for work on horseback and ranch / wrangler work if this makes any difference,

also how long does it take to get these visa's. obviously dont want to pay for them and then not get a job. but would i have enought time between getting the job and geting the visa before i go?

thanks again xx

It might be a bit difficult at this time.  It might be better in the near furure though so continue to look.

Current problems:

Q-1...I believe the UK has something similar called a Working Holiday.  But the US right now only deals with residents of Australia, New Zealand, Ireland...and this year was supposed to add some of the Eastern European countries.  I think that the Australians, New Zealanders, and Irish needed to either have some post-secondary education, or completed post-secondary ed to qualify.  But I'm not sure if that was required for the newer countries. Each is worked out with reciprocal agreements.

H2B...a couple of years ago revisions were made to the visa program because of abuses on both sides.  The real result was that it became so much more time consuming and expensive that most companies cannot or choose not to use the program.  They also have to be somewhat larger companies than most of the ranches are going to be.  I can really only think that the horse possibility at Yosemite as being large enough.

Both visas require sponsoring agency(ies) in the employee's home country.

Reasons to be hopeful:

I know/worked with a person from Australia, and  person from the US that did the reciprocal program in Australia and that original program is strong and has had positive results.  That encouraged the next round of working out exchange programs with other countries.  Which all means more countries are more likely to be added, with varying qualifications.

Bureaucrats/politicians may realize that the regulations that they put in place are too expensive and may revise the program again...as long as they can still address the past abuses.  Unfortunately, I do not see that really being a priority for them until the unemployment levels are considered low...which may take several years by the way the economy is looking.

Good luck with your search.
