Living & Working in Great Places
Thanks for being here! The six of us at CoolWorks welcome you and wish you success in finding your Jobs in Great Places®!
Hi, I will be at Lake Yellowstone this summer, living in the dorm. I am wondering if I ought to have some sort of computer or if there would be public ones available for limited use? My laptop is on its last legs so I'm thinking about purchasing one. But then I thought I would wait if there'd be public access. All I'd need is to be able to check email/bank account once a week.
There are usually one or two public, shared PC's but I would prefer to have my own. I recommend getting a tablet if your laptop is about gone. I have a 7 inch Samsung Tab 3.0 that I picked up refurbished at Walmart. It was super cheap and works great :)
i worked in mammoth and other seasonal jobs
a laptop made everything so much easier and nicer
Typically, but not always, any "public" computer offered by a seasonal employer is going to be the leftover that went through every other department, and still *kind of* works. I can't imagine not having my own, even if you were to get a cheap netbook, I would think it worth while over what will be offered. But hey, perhaps some big company employer will value their employees enough to give them a good station (laughing in my head).
I think having someone of your own would be best just for security's sake as well with your bank account info. If you get a tablet you can probably use either an ipad or android app for your bank which would make things easier.
you should always have your own laptop since most dorms only have two computers and you will have to fight to get on like aggie says a tablet is pretty cheap and you can do just about everything on there or if you have an smartphone you can do alot on there too
