Glad to hear you made it ok and all is well, Brenda. Looking forward to hearing lots more about the people you meet and the adventures you fall into. :)

Well I'm on very early, no one is awake yet. Theres a lot more people up here then last year, but I've met several people from Coolworks. Andrea,Janette,Cheff,Stov. We had our first meeting for the general store crew yesterday and the crew seems to be for the most part a pretty good bunch. Today the real fun begins. We have to put the whole store together, stocking the shelfs and getting everything set up. The location opens to the public on the 15th but they have the shake down dinner the night befor and theres 5 of us that reserved a table to eat together. I'll start taking pictures soon, but with my laptop cord messed up I am going to wait untill I get paid and can get into town to get a new one so I can download the pictures.

Best wishes Brenda. Thanks for posting . It gets really busy on site, so, we all understand. Say hi to our coolworking friends for us, Janette, and Stov.

will do Carol. There both on here still. Well its not that cold out but I spent the day putting together the deep freezer in the general store with all beer and wine so I am a bit chilled right now. I can't wait till this all evens out and comes together. I'm definitely gonna lose weight I keep this up. Tomorrow is the same thing, then Wednesday is customer service training so gotta force myself to stay awake for that. Lol. Orientation was so long. 8:30 am to 4pm, and after spending all night awake in the Salt Lake City Airport, I think I fell asleep at least 5 times. Yesterday I ate dinner then came back to my room and fell asleep right away until 4 in the morning. Guess I needed it huh.

Hey all, and especially to you Carol for the hi via Brenda.
I've been at North Rim since Apr 20th and it's as awesome as I expected it to be. Sorry to have been so incommunicado, but the RV area doesn't have wifi, and I managed to break my blackberry just before I arrived here. The first month has been busy, and as more folks arrived, just got busier! I managed to escape some of the craziness of the first mass influx of arrivals on May 1st by going on my Rim to Rim hike with the NPS interpretive staff, but got back just in time for the second wave of chaos that delivered Brenda, Andrea, Jeremy (stovpipe), Robert (chefness), and many more. Since then everyone has been busy with orientation, dept meetings, getting ready to open, etc.

Today I got a day off while almost everyone else is working. I've parked myself in the sun on Employee Rock (on the edge of the Canyon) with my newly replaced cell phone and am catching up on calls and mail. Today is the day I have truly "arrived". As I write I have the amazing view across the Canyon to the South rim (source of cell service). I have the constant sound of wind sloughing through the trees, birds twittering all around and below me, and the occasional buzz of an insect or whoosh of a high speed swallow soaring past a few feet overhead. All that and abundant sunshine, and the feeling that I have this entire spectacular hole in the ground to myself too!

I have arrived, and Life is GOOD!

Hope everyone is settling in their new homes and jobs too.

I wanted to add to Janette's little typing and say that she Janette decided that us peeps from coolworks are not good enough and she decided to go eat with another group for the shakedown dinner. But that's ok, because I will not let her forget!!!!!

I would like to add to Brenda's typing by saying that she's mad at me because I allegedly left the Coolworks peeps (her, Chefness, and Stov) and hitched a ride back to the EDR earlier. However, I did hitch a ride back with other fellow Coolworks peeps, Jim Tobin and Mike Thomason, so she can't be too mad at me. You know you can't stay mad at me for too long, Brenda! I smile way too much!!

Is it my fault I got so many dinner invites? You guys were just too late. Anyway, you can't stay mad at me, I fixed your computer so you can get on to coolworks!
