Living & Working in Great Places

I have submitted an application to Lake Crescent Lodge - it appears they are rather slow to get started in the review process.
Does anyone have experience or knowledge of:
Front Desk employment
number of employees onsite
management style
general vibe etc.
I would love to learn something about the place from people who have been there.

Hi Julia: I've worked at Lake Crescent the past 3 years. Can't tell you too much about the front desk work, altho the recent front desk managers, Hilary and Lindsey are really great people. There's probably about 50 employees in season. There's been a bit of management turnover in the last couple years and as of last fall a new GM was going to be appointed. It's a pretty decent place to work. Employee housing within walking distance, bus stop (to Port Angeles) walking distance. Share a room with a person, 4 people share bathroom. Younger kids can get kinda noisy at night, but that's probably true anywhere.

The scenery in the area is stunning! Mountains, the lake, huge trees. The ocean is about an hours' drive away, the Straight of Juan de Fuca about 1/2 hour.

All in all I'd recommend it as a place to work. I have found employment close to my home on the east coast and won't be returning.

Harry - thanks co much for the info. I don't know if I can wait until mid Feb - we shall see. One more ? - you said there were about 50 employees at LCL - is it a mostly young group or is tere a good number of oldre and bolders, i.e. 50+ ???

Julia: There are more of the younger crowd than 50+ers. Course it changes from year to year. Probably roughly 35 younger, 15 older last year. No telling what they'll do in the future, but last year they tried to put the older crowd in a separate dorm (there are 2 dorms). Another nice thing about the area is that the minimum wage in Washington is one of the highest of all states.
