Living & Working in Great Places

So folks, I'm leaving for Fairbanks, AK on the 23rd of April. Need a ride? Looking for someone to share accomadations, good conversation and fuel. We can camp, we can stay in a motel, whatever works. I'm leavin' from Seattle and plan on getting to Fairbanks on the 28th. If you're going to Anchorage or Denali I can take you as far as where the road cuts off or you could try to get another ride from Fairbanks(probably would be easier from there). I'd love to take you all the way there but it's like over 400 miles out of the way. Oh, and no smoking in my car, but we'll stop every few hours and you can smoke then if it suits ya. Alrighty, ba-bye now.

Hiya Amanda,
My name is Newell, me and my sis are going up that way too from Salt Lake the same day. We have to be on property on the 27th. If you want to meet up along the way to Caravan on up we could make a bit safer for the both of us. If this your first time going up I would recomend Canadian Traveler's checks from a bank so you will get a better exchange rate for gas-especially. Since the gas up near the upper parts of BC will be over 4 to 5 dollars a gallon. I've driven it four times and I know most of the places to stop for sights and places to stay. If you need any advice on maps and gas info just ask.

Hey Newell that sounds great. Are you going all the way to Fairbanks? I wouldn't mind getting up there a day early.

I won't be going all the way to Fairbanks but we could be caravaning nearly all the way and split off in Haines Junction. As for meeting up I don't know where to meet up yet? what part of the ALCAN Hiway will you be on? We're spending the night in Edmonton on the 24. Mainly to get some rest and go the West Edmonton Mall. The places I will head through will be Edmonton, Grande Parrie, Fort St John, Fort Nelson, Laiard Hot Springs. Watson Lake, Whitehorse, then Alaska. If this sound cool just leave a note

Little add on. I put down the wrong junction. the one where we would split up would be Tok. Which is the first gas place into AK. from there I would go west to Wasilla and you would head North to Fairbanks

Cool beans. I'll be on the west access route of the ALCAN, don't really know how long it's gonna take me. I definately wanna stop at Lairad Hot Springs, I heard it was a must see. As far as where to meet up, well I leave on Thursday and was planning on being in Prince George Thursday night, we could meet in Fort St. John Friday? The map looks like this'll work, but let me know what you think. Thanks Buddy.

Sound like a plan. We'll be in Edmonton on Friday and be definately in Fort St. John on Saturday. If you happen to see me I'll be in my lil silver Elantra w/a bike on the back. But there are alot of sights to see along the way too. If we don't meet in Fort St. John. I'll leave messages here where Im at at lil Wifi spots along the way. :D
-remember to get some Canadian travellers checks for the gas in upper part of BC. They can take credit cards but you end up paying for all the transaction fees for both the Canadian banks and yours. As for regular US cash they will take it but they won't give you a fair exchange rate. Right now the rate is 1.177 per dollar. If anything they'll give ya 1.10.
-One more thing...
Keep all your gas reciepts for the trip. You can use them as a deduction for next years taxes.
I'll check in later on tonight if I can think of anything else.

Thanks so much! I'll be in Fort St. John Friday night, so I'm sure we could catch up with eachother sometime Saturday, are you camping or motel?

I would say maybe a lil of both We have to be on property on the 27th in the afternoon. A lil bit of camping on the 26 in either Watson Lake or Whitehorse. But I will do an extend rest stop at the Hot Springs. It is so relaxing and it almost covers a nights rest which makes it so relaxin. But if you see me on the road just flash your brights and we'll caravan
