Living & Working in Great Places
Thanks for being here! The six of us at CoolWorks welcome you and wish you success in finding your Jobs in Great Places®!
You will do fine - the only thing will be housing. Glacier National Park has a separate housing unit called Menopaus Lodge, or Blackfoot Lodge and this is for anyone female over the age of 45. In the Tetons they also have co-ed housing for the experienced people who are also older. You will do fine!
Find your place you want to go with the job you want and go for it... I did at the tender age of 55 and loved it.
Hi Debtra, I did my first seasonal position at 63 last summer at the Grand Canyon North Rim. I stayed in the RV campground and it was quite noisy during quiet time. I would say 80% of the workers were in their 20’s. The North Rim is 2-1/2 hours from the nearest big town which was too far for me. I worked in housekeeping which got boring very quickly. Then front desk for 3 months which was much better. At the beginning of the season we worked 2 - 3 weeks straight without a day off because they weren’t fully staffed yet, so be aware of that. I’m going to the Tetons this summer in the gift shop; only 40 minutes from town, so I’ll be much happier. If you can keep a great attitude and stand on your feet all day, you’ll be fine.
