Well i have dogs but they also dont like traveling but they got use to it...once we were parked they did great, I found that putting them in crates with there babies lol and putting a blanet around them(over the crate) helps with vibrations they settled down much better.

Yes, Jackie, I think keeping them in their crates until they get used to things would help.  Thanks!  Where will you be this summer?  I'll be at Mommoth.

Hi Jenny I will be at the canyon , will u b will dnc or xanterra?  If u get the chance u should come down for a cheeseburger fries and choc shake at r 50s diner!!  if your with dnc i have lots of info on mammoth store , dont know much about xanterra..check out my friends blog she lives there full time works mammoth all winter...robyninyellowstone@blogspot.com   lots of pics ..

I'll be working for xanterra; worked for them in 2009.  I will definitely be coming to Canyon as often as I can - it's one of my favorite areas in the Park!

It entirely depends on the cat, of course, but most will adapt once they feel safe. I flew up to Alaska a few years ago with my Siamese cat to help a friend bring both his motor home and his car back down to Oregon where was moving. She didn’t think much of it at first and hid under the covers in the RV bedroom but by the end of the trip (7 days) she was riding on the dashboard of the RV as we were flying down the interstate! A lot of cats are way more adaptable than people give the credit for. I frequently took her with me in the car for about two months before our Alaska trip to get her used to being in a moving vehicle and I think that helped.

Terry, your cat sounds like the one I traveled with years ago; she loved it!  The 2 I have now - not so much!  I like your idea about getting them used to riding long before we start the trip.  Thanks

I brought my cat Duke fron Spokane to Tampa years ago.Took him to the vet first & the vet gave me pills to give him on the trip.Duke laid on my shoulders almost the whole way. He loved the south west because it looked like the biggest sandbox he ever saw.lol!

Great advice, Terry.  I plan on taking my cat out to Montana for a month this summer and have the 10 hour+ plus drive from Seattle to Bozeman to consider.  Giving her some rides in the car just around town sounds like a great plan. Thanks!

Hi Jenny!

I am in the same predicament as you are, I wanted to get an RV before I went back to Yellowstone. I have two cats that would travel with me. Last year and also this year my daughter is watching them.  If I do get an RV I would definitely try and get them used to it a couple of months before I left if possible. Just let them sit in it and explore before you crank it up, then I would start with short trips. Cats are adaptable when they want to be, as I'm sure you know. I will be at Fishing Bridge again this year, retail. I can't wait! I had an awesome time last year!

Love your profile pic; such a sweet kitty!  I've wanted a small RV for years and I'm really seriously looking now.  If it weren't for the cats, I would prefer to live in a dorm and eat in the EDR.  I think I would feel pretty isolated living in an RV.  I will be working at Mommoth Hot Springs and the RV sites are 5 miles away in Gardiner, which means I would have to have a car to drive to work.  This is why I'm going for only 2 months this year.  I know the cats would adjust, but I so hope I can work things out for them to stay home!  We'll all be happier!  Do you work for Del. North?

Hi Jenny,

Yes, Delaware North.  Last year I had actually met my roommate to be on Cool Works, we got along great! Luckily we both liked a lot of the same things.  I don't think she is staying as long this year tho. Didn't know the RV site was so far from the park for you.  The one for Fishing Bridge is less than a mile away from the store.  I think I missed the cats more than they missed me last year.  When I got home, they just looked at me like "Oh, there you are, what's for dinner??" Typical! :-)
