I have 10 days before my season is complete at Sheep Mountain Lodge. Every summer is a new place for me to explore. I might go back somewhere after a few years have passed. So I might come back here again sometime, just not next year. Overall it was a very nice summer. It's my most remote stop yet on my journey. They call it "semi-remote" over here because there is a road by it. I had a job with a lot of variety and some challenges. Made some money. Got to meet some interesting people. Had a good crew to work with. Encountered some new nature...both big and small, animals and plants. No cellphone, no television, but I do have internet access and I was able to get my newsprint fix too. I start my next gig soon, on the 23rd.

I'm starting to get my 'feel' for next summer. Mainly thinking about three areas. I have avoided the big corporations so far. Well, I guess my first stop was at a Forever Resort...but each of their places feels like individual units. I'm thinking I might look into Delaware North at Yosemite. Second, I've traveled through some of the Plains states, but I have never spent much time there. So I'm thinking about checking out Custer State Park. Third, I'm thinking maybe coastal....probably east coast...like Acadia or Cape Cod.

I didn't have a seasonal job this summer but I will say that when I did have a seasonal job I usually did not go back the next year. The reason being that the second year won't be the same because all the friends you made the previous year are not there. On top of that you already have seen what is in the park or resort so what is there to do there. I went back to Denali two years in a row and the first year was much better.

I try for new places; Isn't part of what we do is to explore and see new spots all over the place? I thought you were going for Girdwood; It is a great spot with very cool people....

Well I think my Job here at the North Rim would be about a 7 compared to my last job at Yellowstone which was a close 8. I'm defiantly trying a new place next year. Us north rim people still have until Oct 16 :( . I'm also still looking around for winter jobs and know of the companies I've applied has contacted me back just yet . I'm still thinking about trying to get over at the Tetons this winter/next summer gonna love it over there compared to here where I can personally enjoy my self more .
