Living & Working in Great Places
Thanks for being here! The six of us at CoolWorks welcome you and wish you success in finding your Jobs in Great Places®!
I am interested in starting seasonal work in the spring/summer at a national park, yosemite, olympic and grand teton on the top of lists right now. If you have any recommendations please feel free to comment below!
A lot of the places that hire seasonal jobs in the NP system talk about the entry level positions. I have 2 years of waitressing, 1 year of bartending, 2 years of gift shop, and 2 years of zipline guide / kayak rental experience. Would I be considered entry level because it would be my first season in the given park or would I stand a chance at applying for one of the "better" jobs?
Hi Ali ... your best job to make money is any tipped position. Nearly all other jobs will pay minimum wage unless you are in a management position. I think most management spots would require that you be at that Park for at least one prior season and have "connections" with existing management. Of the ones you mentioned I like Grand Tetons, but I'm a retired guy working for the Park Service so I'm really in a different mode than you are :) Good luck in the future...I hope you find work and a place you love.
