Those are of the Two Medicines area in East Glacier Park, MT
Now, as for Canada. On Sunday a friend and I decided since we were this close why not go ahead and make the trip to Canada since neither of us had been. Oh, only if we had known what lay in store for us. We waited for two hours to get to the checkpoint and once there we were asked the basic questions, one of which was what is your destination? Our destination was Canada and we explained that I was working at the park and my friend was flying back Tuesday so since we were this close we just wanted to visit.
That got us sent into a vehicle inspection garage where the following among other silly things were heard.
Do you watch that show CSI? We have that kind of equipment. If you have anything we will find it.
Why are you in such a bad mood?
Why are you going to Canada? (multiplied by a few dozen which makes this simple question into a silly one)
Why do you need to use the restroom so badly? (Well, we waited in line for two hours, drove for an hour before that, and have been in here for two hours)
They spent well over two hours tearing my car apart from hood to trunk and found such nefarious items as my collection of early 19th century novels, a Scrabble game, Winne the Pooh Uno cards, and several Blues CDs. These items clearly marked us as threats to Canadian society and got us sent to Immigration where we spent another 90 minutes waiting to be told we were denied access into The Great White North because I received a DUI 9 and a half years ago.
On Monday my friend while looking for his flight confirmation discovered that it was no longer in his bag...
He told me the Border Patrol agent, one of four they had on our case, had asked him twice if his flight back to TN was already booked. So we went down stairs to my car and started looking. After about an hour we discovered his flight information had mysteriously moved from his bag in the front seat to under the floor mat on top of the spare tire in the trunk! Amazing!
Needless to say he was upset as was I. But it ended fine, we got back into East Glacier just in time to get some pretty spectacular sunset photos.
