Hello, I am not here to air dirty laundry, I just saw that The Pump House in Fairbanks,Ak posted a position for a line cooks/sous chef in the help wanted now section. I just wanted to say I just spent a month there hired to help the chef out as a kitchen lead with acting sous chef responsibiliteis. So I was told. There is no position like that in that kitchen. I pretty much ended up in their bar area, where I was told I would not be working, flipping bugers and jocking a fryer. This is fine if that is what I signed on to do.They under staff and will expect you to pull 200-300 covers by yourself in a dirty hole of a kitchen for 10-12 hours straight without the proper product to do the job right. No one working in the two kitchen's was happy,it was pretty sad.Being a culinary grad with lots of kitchen lead experience I felt straight up duped. Just wanted to warn anyone that you will most likely be put in the same situation. Plus half their equipment is ghetto rigged. The main housing option is a seedy hotel that will cost you $600 a month. On the plus side the owners were quite hospitable and they sent me my last check right on time. I should mention Fairbanks kinda sucked.Sorry Fairbanks, just my opinion. Go to Denali instead, wish I did.Cheers.
