Winter Jobs in warm climate..

The weather was fantastic! When we first arrived, it was October and in the 90's, but then it cooled down. Most days were sunny and in the 70's, some up to the 80's, and then once you get into May (they close Mother's Day), there were some hot days in the 100's! The people we worked for are great. The general manager is Rui Pereira. The housing is called "The Beach." There are 3 buildings that form a square, and there's grass in the middle. You'll either have one roommate and the two of you will share a bathroom, or there are some rooms where there's only one person with a bathroom in the middle of 2 rooms that 2 people share. It's a beautiful place, and the desert is fantastic, especially in the spring when the cactus flowers are blooming. There's a lot of great hikes around in the area and straight from the property too, and you can go horseback riding on your days off. Also, they include 3 meals a day. Let me know what else I can tell you.

Tell me a little about Rancho de los Caballeros, it keeps kind of pulling me after looking at their pics. I am 57, would I be too old to work there? Is it mainly just young people. I wouldn't want to feel isolated. I have read other posts on here that says it's a party place. I don't mind that if there are any people close to my age that I could talk to & make friends with. I know one guy who has worked there several years, but don't know if he's still with them or not. Mike Hobbs, I worked with him at another location, but he worked for Rancho from October through May. Did you know him? Not sure what his title was there.

I think when it comes to Hawaii you usually have to move there before getting a job. Most of them want you to have a Hawaii address when you apply. I have a couple friends from Hawaii who have worked at resorts there and I think they made $15/hour as pool attendants so that's pretty good.

I tried Hawaii and Lisa is generally correct; They want to talk to you in a personal interview. You could always save your $$$ up and then just go and see what transpires. Craigslist has a lot jobs advertised...
Hawaii is a destination vacation spot so it might be a bit slower than the lower 48 however; Good luck in your choices. Tucson, btw, has tone of golf resorts so there will be many job opportunities.

Its amazingly cheap to fly from Alaska to Hawaii, I think I might plan on taking a vactaion there and see if I can land a job.

Hello!! This is sooo funny. I am also looking for a good winter job in a warm climate, so I put "winter job hawaii" into a search engine (as I often do, with no good results) and I came across this thread. I am Kathy's friend who just spent the winter volunteering at Kalani Oceanside Retreat Center on the Big Island of Hawaii and before that I did two winter seasons at Rancho de los Caballeros!! I loved it in both places. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. And if you find any other good, warm, winter jobs, let me know!! Good luck... :)
