Thanks for being here! The six of us at CoolWorks welcome you and wish you success in finding your Jobs in Great Places®!

This will be my first season looking for work with a small RV and a small dog. (Who is always leashed and behaved.)

I'm wondering if anyone has any advice or suggestions for good locations to seek employment with this set up. I am a bartender and server with a wide range of experience. I came to Alaska 8 years ago to work in Denali and am just now getting around to leaving. (It's great here, seriously.)

I was initially thinking ski resort gigs would be the obvious solution but finding housing for me and the pup seems daunting (and expensive) in most areas. In more rural resort settings I'm finding no housing available at all except for what's offered by the employer and that obviously would not work for me.

Any ideas?

If your going to be working at a ski resort it will be to cold to be in your RV. You more than likely will be in a shared room where dogs aren't allowed.

People live in RV's year-round all over the place, even here in Alaska.

I doubt if there are any ski resorts that have RV spots of any kind, let alone for employee use.  I suppose it could be possible to find an RV park near the Salt Lake area and commute...most employees at Snowbird commute from the city, for example.  A couple of the parks that are open with RV spots, I think still available in winter.  Otherwise there is workamping and some of them have options of earning some money on the side.

I have worked at 4 different ski resorts from Stratton in Vermont to Copper Mountain in Colorado and this winter Big Sky in Montana and I have yet to see any place where you can keep an RV that is provided from that ski resort.

As in having a dog the only place that seemed like they would be cool with a dog would be Copper Mountain if you found a way for the dog to be a service dog then you could keep it in housing and I am sure that you could park your RV in the employee parking area though you would have to move it twice a week.

Good luck in whatever you end up doing.
