I was looking at the weather planing my trip and saw that there is a snow storm advisory for tuesday aprl 28th through to thursday the 30th I have to be in gardiner on the 30th is anyone else going on this date?
I went through two patches of snow squalls, up in the passes. Otherwise, not too bad here, in Gardiner, on the 27th. I sign in tomorow. The roads are clear.
Depending on what location you are at you could have winter advisories at any time of the year. Grant Village is about 8000 feet above sea level and we had snow in the middle of July. Mammoth Hot Springs is around 5000 feet above sea level and stays dry.
weather has died down here. it is supposed to be really nice this weekend for a change. haven't been to yellowstone yet this year, but down in bozeman at 5400 feet we still have a few inches of snow here and there. i think everyone agrees winter is over though.
i remember there was snow storms in yellowstone in every month i worked in yellowstone. i also remember driving out to yellowstone in my car and sleeping in the back. it was always cold, even with a pretty decent sleeping bag. I-90 through wyoming routinely shuts down until june because of flooding or snow drifts.
but my wife drives a geo metro around all winter and it does fine. the weather in yellowstone is pretty unique though. we could have beautiful sunny warm weather on all the highways going into the park, and it could be snowing around the lake.
