Living & Working in Great Places

I would love it if people who have worked Yosemite during the winter could share their experiences. I'm thinking about applying in October, but I must say, the tents do not sound too pleasant. Do they even offer those in the winter??

Hey Lara,

I "bump" this fine question. Is there anyone out there with some knowledge of Yosemite jobs in winter? I LOVE Yosemite and, dang, what's the deal with the tents? Anybody??

Well hello there. I've worked there in the winter. I first started out at camp 6 which was the tent cabins, then went to boy's town, another tent community, I stayed long enough and graduated to a dorm and was there for a few years. I worked in food service. Good luck in your endeavors, start early in the ap process.... Here is something to get you mouth watering just click on image....Larry

Thanks Larry. I have this idea I might like to work in the restaurant in the Awahnee Hotel. How hard do you think it might be to get a chance to work there? I have experience. I'm just trying to wrap my head around being in a tent in the winter! I love Yosemite in winter. How long is "long enough" to graduate to a dorm? I had a chance to talk with a waiter there one winter day and he told me a lot of people live off the property. Any thoughts on that? Give me a heads up on what insiders think are the best jobs? Thanks, Larry.
