i would suggest getting some Cisco training also (CCP) then shoot for Microsoft training also (MCSE) also. not much for IT in the park normally. from what i hear Aramark needs an IT guy in Olympic NP but that would be hard to acquire with out the proper certts. good luck :)

Hey guys, just accepted a job at YNP as a server but am interested in working in IT (currently taking my A+ and do PC repairs). Wise choice? How is the pay and length of term?

Looks like I'm headed to Mesa Verde to do a little Park Rangering. I will try to be as techie and nerdie as I can to fairly represent this group however :-)

Since I may be a techie guy at MPL for summer 2011, I figured I better join this group and start networking :-)  Trouble is the last techie on here was Nov 2010 ... where are you nerds?

Classic year setting up 3g routers so everyone could have WIFI at Lake Crescent! They work really well as long as you have a signal. At Fairholme I had to use an external antenna. But the credit card machines were working!!

I've been in India, Himalayas and such, for about 7 years... and have managed a few projects. I've been at it for a while. Mainly via publishing and communications. Took computers to Central American in mid-90's, now that's a story.

Is there much demand for IT work in the National Parks? IT professional wanting to leave the rat race, and I'd be happy bussing tables in the great outdoors, but could a tech degree and IT experience get me something better?
