A little late in announcing this here....but I'll be a Park Ranger at Denali National Park this summer.   If you happen to be in the area, drop in the Visitors Center and say Hi.   If you havbe any tips on things to bring, or stuff to do while I'm there ..... drop me a note.  Ranger Rich

I applied for a Seward job. Don't think I got it. For now I think I need a job in town to keep tabs on North Slope work and network. Seems to be who you know here, not what you know. Meanwhile I need money so a cannery job if something comes up soon. Would like to get out of town. I do miss Kodiak too. Something about that place...Right now there has been snow here in Anchorage, nice seeing the mountains in the distance in the clear twilight sky. Crunchy snow underfoot...

Sitka is similar to Kodaik, being that it is a Temperate Rain forest and an Island. I lived there for two years awhile back before I lived on Orcas and worked at Raptor Center. I paid a visit this past October and was so thankful for glorious weather and no rain. I agree with you on Talkeetna... it is pretty charming. I am sure something awesome will turn up.. Also, Cordova has the Sockeye River Salmon fish plant and Cordova is a small kodiak/Sitka.. with only around 2800 people... Seward has a plant as well...

I almost went to Sitka last spring to work in a cannery but they never got back to me. Met some people from Orcas who were moving there too. Sounds like a cool place. So far I like Kodiak and Talkeetna. Would like to explore more of Alaska.

Andrew Southeast has a lot of fish type work, yet probably not starting til March. In case the slope does not come through for you. Of all the towns, Sitka is the most preferable in my opinion.

Me too. I'm off job hunting now. Will have to work in Anchorage for a bit. Midtown, not my favourite place to be. Central for job hunting needs. That's all. Nice backdrop though. Nice that you're sunny and warm. Good luck to you too.

Well, I hope Andrew that something for the slope picks up... I love Talkeetna as well, it is charming and funky. Midtown is gross.. poor Anchorage, they just do not know how to develop towns up there... it is really all about the backdrop anyway. I am good, sunny and warm here..... making changes which is always a positive thing. Good luck and hopefully something will come out positive after being stuck in Anchorage

No kidding. Too spread out with all these busy roads and traffic. I'm here to hook up with North Slope work but it is going slow. Might have to pick up cannery work again. I did visit Talkeetna and wish I could stay there. Meanwhile I'm stuck in Anchorage. In the midtown area mostly. How are things with you?

So, Andrew I am presuming from your comment, Anchorage is not your favorite city.... not mine either.. actually, Alaska really has no nice cities.. Juneau is okay.... with Sitka being my fave..

@Dawna: I was in Kodiak working for Trident Seafoods in a cannery and decided to try for a North Slope cooking job. Now I'm stuck in Anchorage.
