I have worked for Sheep Mountain Lodge in '09, Denali Gift Co in '10, and Alaska Wildland Adventures last summer at their Cooper Landing preoperty.  I am planning on returning to AWA in May for one more season.

Would LOVE to hear from folks who have worked in Alaska (where, for who, etc...) Trying to get up there next summer and input is, as you all know, SO helpful!!

Have a great weekend all!!

With about 2.5 months left here in Skagway, I'm thinking...I don't want to leave Alaska.  I grew up in and around Chicago, so I know I could handle an Alaska winter...but I doubt I can find a cdl or transportation related job in Alaska for the winter.  I have lots of experience working in restaurants, but I'm no longer interested in that, and I'm not crazy enough to do ice road trucking.  Does Anchorage have a large public transit system?  I read a little about the "people mover."  Anyone have any experience with that?

I arrive in Alaska in 9 days on Wednesday, may 2, 2012. I will be a zipline guide for Alaska Excursions in Skagway from 05/07/2012 through 09/25/2012. I am ready to begin my adventures in Alaska in 9 days. I look forward to meeting all of you either this summer or in the future when I live, work and play in Alaska.

Sincerely,

Leo

Accidently deleted a comment earlier. Anyway I'm heading up to Kodiak to work as a seafood processor starting in May.

Ooooh, I so agree about the whales!  They are absolutely magnificent and I never get tired of seeing them.

Heading back next week for my third summer with Kenai fjord Tours. Last summer though I worked at the other location in Whittier, Prince  William Sound glacier cruises which has since closed shop. I will also be working on one of my days off for Celebrity Cruises as a Pier Check in agent on ship day. Should be a busy summer... the nature of Alaska calls me and the Whales that is why I return.

Hello, I am new to all this and unsure how it works. I used coolworks years ago before all the changes.  I have been in Alaska last 4 summers. I have worked in a remote lodge, Ketchican, juneau, skagway. I am wanting to return to Alaska but maybe do something a little different or a different city. I Have worked fine jewelry sales and hospitality. However, I am up for anything. If anyone has any suggestions or advice or would like to know about my experiences. Thanks
