Helen: Good painting of the picture of town Healy for Kyle.
Helen Comment by Helen on April 9, 2009 at 1:47pm
Kyle, Healy is a really small town. It has a school with softball and soccer fields, The Totem Inn which has a bar and restaurant, Rose's Cafe where you can eat the one pound hamburger and get your picture put up on the wall, two gas stations, a bank/clinic/library/volunteer fire department, princess housing (which looks like a compound) and that's about it. There is no "town" really, it's all just kinda spread out on about a mile and a half of the parks highway.

Government service workers and coal mining company takes up most of the residence population in Healy. as you know its 11 miles away from the hotels. population about 950 people. more foot traffic at hotels and better quality of smiles from co workers. don't expect to mix in with towns people of Healy. mix in with co workers at dorms in Healy better quality of life.

Bob found out it's best to save money at seasonal jobs for summer by putting large part of each work paychecks aside.about seventy percent and only spend 30 percent. spend more money at the end of each summer season for expense tours trips. activities. last full summer in Alaska was Skagway year 2007. Earned $8,000 saved $3,000. spend more on extra food, tips. golden rule learn from past mistakes. Denali should be fine. lots of free activities and higher hourly wage. my mistake is going out to dinner lunch more and giving out tips at the table. cut back on soda expenses by using the free employee dinning room soda fountain. cut back on monthly expenses. Bob has no monthly expenses now. live at parents Florida home, much bigger place that way too. inside thoughts on summer seasonal budget.
