So last season I arrived on May 7 and there were alot of people around to keep eachother busy. This year i have to be there May 1. I dont assume there will be many of us there for about another week. Just curious as to what all of your arrival dates are? Probably May 8 for the majority of you. Anyone coming earlier then that? I am driving my car this year also. How many of you driving yourselfs?
wow why so late Jessica? I arrived April 27th last year. This year it is May 8th. There was maybe 10 of us last year. I was the very first person in the dorms actually. At least coming early this year like you do you won't have to deal with what I had to. The dorms were in total disary. All the other employees lived in there own tailors. Then on the 28th I got one other employee that arrived in my dorm. Not Larry but the other guy that quit. I'm Flying into st George actually. So I gotta let Mike Know sometime next month.
May 8, and obviously I'm driving the RV. I don't know if I'll have my toad vehicle by then or not.
Brenda, maybe the reason the early people went in so much earlier last year was because the Forever folks knew there would be a Zanterra mess to clean up? They have more control over what they are going in to this year and a better idea that it can be dealt with in a week before the bulk employee influx.
My arrival date hasn't been confirmed but Mike says they want me there as soon as the NPS allows us into the NR property. He thought I should be there sometime between 4/15 & 4/21. I am also driving my car.
Yeah, my arrival is the 8th, but I'm seriously considering leaving two weeks early to drive instead of one. I'm asking Mike if I can do that, I'd even work for nothing until my start date. Anything to start things smoother than what I heard about last year.
Hey Jessica (or anyone else already been there), where exactly is the EDR and dorms in relation to the Lodge? I'm trying to find them on Google Earth, but I don't know which buildings they are. Thanks!
Employee area is not on the Google earth map, but if you go straight back the way ya came from the road there is a road off to your left as your leaving the lodge area. that's the employee area. turning it around when you come into the immediate area of the NR you'll pass a road that leads to the six plex, the next road is the gas station, camper store, and camping area and then the third road is employee housing. all roads are on the right side. After that straight ahead is the hotels motels and lodge.
I've been on a little fishing vacation for a week or so. Just got home and am catching up on what's going on here with the NR group. Wow! Everyone seems just as excited as I'am about getting up there. My arrival date is May 1 by the way. I' am flying into St. George a day early just to spend a little time shopping and checking the town out. I'am hoping to discover a good bookstore there that I can frequent as much as possible this summer. Well can't wait to get up there and meet everyone. It is going to be a fantastic summer!
I talked with Mike Hobbs today and it appears that I am tentatively scheduled to arrive on May 1 or maybe a few days before. I will probably go to Scottsdale a few days after I arrive so that I can do a "meet and greet" with the Corp. IT folks. Corp. IT is planning to be in NR so that Aloha can be operational on 5/11. I think the Admin staff (Mike, Daisy, etc.) will be at the lodge around 4/15.
Mike will begin scheduling employee rooms sometime this week or early next week.
If I am going to be scheduled for 5/1 and any one needs a ride from St. George they are welcome to ride to the NR with me.
Change of plans. I've accepted a different position and will now be going in with the advance group on April 21st. Woohoo only 41 days. I'm psyched about the change.
Visited Page today to meet Daisy (and Mike) and am now camped by Lake Powell watching the sunset on the buttes across the lake. They have motorboat and jetski rentals here, so I'll check on the prices and stuff tomorrow in case anyone is interested in such things for sometime over the summer (and of course on fishing for stovpipe).
I also stopped NY at the Vermillion Wilderness office and got some hiking maps and ideas from them, and will be calling in on the Escalante office tomorrow, and the Dinosaur center, I'm sure they will have more neat hikes to share.
