Hey Angie, try googling nurses non slip shoes, you might come up with some ideas that way. I have read Desert Solitaire, and most of Ed Abbey's other books. I'm currently reading up on the old Cowboy tales of the Kaibab Plateau.

Janette there is no worries last year was just an odd year for the North rim. we weeded all the goofballs out and it is looking a whole lot better this year. If you get up there and meet up with someone that you want to room with just let Mike know. there doing 3 to a room in the new dorm because it is a tiny location. Only two to a room in the old dorms Janette the new dorms had 3 to a room last year except for a few of us who had single status rooms. as for the shuttle ride yes they go into St George on shopping trips. they will post up on the cork board in the employee dinning room a list for you to sign your name and then on that day usually by 7:30 on the day of the trip you meet up out front of the edr and head out to st George. they also have other trips as well like to zion and Bryce and so on

Hey everybody, you have officially earned the "North Rim Veteran" title, yahoo! We are totally pleased that you are all choosing to return to Grand Canyon for another summer. Like us, you now know, there is just "something" about this place.

We wanted to share in advance with you a few changes that we are making for 2009….

Housing costs have increased from $11 to $13 per day for dorm folks and from $5.50 to $6.50 per day per site for RV folks…but, don't forget some of the good stuff that comes along with that: free laundry, free wireless internet (where available), staff computers in the EDR, a beautiful "state of the art" North Rim recycling center ... and now introducing, for those of you on the meal plan…..expanded hours in the EDR!! We'll keep the EDR open till about midnight with snacks and a sandwich bar to help curb those late cravings. Hope everyone likes this new concept, a lot of thought went into it and we really want to see this "perk" work!

We have also begun to tackle the housing monster! Whewee! Direction has come forth that we need to maximize our housing capacity, using what we currently have, while trying to maintain a peaceful living community.

A plan has been put together and approved to make the following changes: The two story dorm will be utilized for triple occupancy, three roomies to a room, you are not likely going to see any exceptions to this, so please, please no begging. We know this may come as a blow to some, so hence, the advance notification. Returners can elect to live in the "new dorm" if you choose to live with two additional roomies. You may want to contact us now with the people you choose or we can assign them upon arrival, it is completely up to you or you can elect to live in one of our one story dorms (commonly referred to as the "old" dorms) with only one roommate, again, up to you! You do certainly have the advance option to choose who you want to live with, we just need to know.

If any of you are managers or supervisors that will be living in company provided housing, those assignments will be determined upon availability, and at Daisy's discretion.

We want to make a whole hearted effort, again, this season to have a comfortable living environment. We want everyone to respect each other's peace and privacy, we want everyone to feel safe and we want everyone to have fun and be grateful to call North Rim "your backyard"!!

Unofficially we want to start using names with a bit more appeal for our housing areas, as I am sure you can imagine why! We would like to encourage ideas from you all to come up with names for our dormitories and our RV parks. Send your thoughts our way and hopefully by spring we will have some great options on the table.

We know the questions and concerns are likely to start pouring in, please don't hesitate to give us a call! We are beyond doubt, very fortunate to have a returning staff that includes you and all of your experience and insight.

Just uploaded two more pictures. One is a guy that worked at the North Rim front desk. So those that will be working at the front desk go take a look. Mike is wearing the vest and scarf that the front desk wear. He made the scarf into a tie, but they got pretty creative with that scarf. couple of the ladies actually put it around there necks in a different fashion other then a tie. The other picture is just another view of inside the new dorms in the room I had.
