Hiked Howard Eaton from Old Faitful to Shoshone Lake and the snow is 99% gone. Trails mostly dry. Bear tracks everywhere.

-sypes canyon
-truman gulch
-leverich canyon
-potosi ridge trail
-storm castle
-hyalite road up to the resevoir
-bozeman creek trail, melting snow and mud

-drinking horse mountain
-felix canyon
-flathead pass area

temps are scheduled to be around 86 next week!!! the ground is drying pretty quickly, good for bikers and hikers, but bad for just about everything else. more rain and lower temps should still bring a greener spring and summer. post your hikes in yellowstone! lets see how things are shaping up there. lake hotel opened today, i hear it is still wet and snowy there.

hey gary, look out for a guy named gabe in old faithful. he is a friend of mine, and loves to hike. he knows yellowstone really well too.

on another note, looks like it won't stop snowing until the end of this week, which will be may... we have still been able to get out and hike though, so don't despair. looks like it will be a very green summer!

Looking to finds some hiking partner s in or around the Old Faithful area. I can't wait to hit the trail. I have been here for a week and no hiking yet. It is killing me. I would go solo, but don't think it is a good idea with grizzlies around.

looks like the snow just won't let up! i was sitting up on a mountainside this past february in the bridgers getting a tan and enjoying the 60 degree weather, and now it feels like december all over again.

on another note, the elk have dropped their antlers, and i will be heading out to collect every last one of them this friday-sunday. sorry i cannot tell you the spots, but be ready for pictures! also will collect some old wolf traps.

hello, the high mountains are still inaccessible until mid june. this year i think may will be pretty open though, since the snow cover is sparse on the west and south facing slopes. i've been driving around all week checking conditions, and your best bet will be the potosi ridge trail in the tobacco roots, the storm castle trail in gallatin canyon, and beartrap canyon in the madisons for may. i think you can start to see a bit of spring on those trails. no promises on them being dry though. yellowstone will be snowy until well into june.

anyway, everywhere you go will be soggy, then it will dry up a bit the mosquitoes will come out, and it will be summer!
