OK, it's way too early for most people. But I'm going to put this out there. I'm going to hike the Appalachian Trail in 2012. Maybe not quite the purist thru-hike, but all of it nonetheless. Right now the plan is to start in West Virginia and hike the northern part first. then come back for the southern part. I'm also thinking about continuing with the Pinhoti Trail, Alabama RoadWalk, and the Florida Trail. Tenetative start date is May 1, 2012.

When worried about bears... make sure to bring along someone who runs slower than you :0). True story; while I worked in Homer last summer I read a news story about someone who actually boxed a charging bear.. it was a tie. Bad **s dude...
