Living & Working in Great Places

I have a general question about bringing outdoor camping/hiking gear to Alaska. Assuming we'll have opportunities to spend a night in the backcountry, is it advisable to bring certain neccessities? Primarily, I have in mind a good set of hiking boots, backpack, and sleeping bag. The first two are givens, but a good sleeping bag can get expensive. Are there any available to employees at the lodge? (for rent maybe?) Or regardless, is it prudent to buy one anyways?

Furthermore, is there any thing I should keep in mind when making the three purchases above?

And beyond boots, backpack, and sleeping bag, are there any items that you would recommend bringing along?

We don't have any employee rental program for camping or fishing gear.

My only tip is that during most of the summer the weather is around 65 degrees, and doesn't get too cold at night because of the extended sunlight. So you won't need a super expensive, super warm sleeping bag unless you like sleeping in a sauna.

There is supposed to be a high concentration of bears in the areas around the property, so you probably will want to be sure to plan for that.
