Miller Tyme: Thanks to you too! I'll get my map out and see if I can follow your lead. Does anyone else stay in Alaska after the summer season? How do you find work?
Zach Myers Comment by Zach Myers on May 5, 2009 at 1:51pm
!Kein Problemo! I'm personally gonna look for work through the winter at ski lodges, or as a sub teacher in Anchorage (you can be out of state).

Zach! Muey thanks! I'll check out the website and the book. I wish I could be there NOW, but I'll have to reign in my enthusiasm and one-foot-in-front-of-the-other until next summer. Does anyone work Alaska in winter? Any part of Alaska?

Nancy B: I just did SF-Anchorage in April...it took 7 days including tons of sightseeing stops along the way. My overnights were...Redwood NP, Portland, Seattle...in Canada: Lilooet, New Hazelton, and Teslin. 3,200 miles. It's a beautiflul drive. Go to milepost.com for info about the drive...they have a book you can buy and use as an in depth reference to fuel stops, lodging, seasonal operating hours etc...we had it, it was worth the purhase.

To Nancy B.: I drove from SF to Bellingham in a couple of days, 4 days on the Alaska Marine Highway to Haines, and another three days (two nights) drive to MPL. Nice drive out of Haines in the spring with the mountains dressed in their finest white. Bring a camera.

Rhonda and I are at the airport for the first leg of our Journey! We should be at Moose's Tooth Wednesday night.

I am not working season yet, but I wonder how long the drive might be from the San Francisco Bay Area to MPL? I truly hope I can join you next summer.
