I have just found this site. I have only noticed old/bold people in their 40s and 50s. I am in my 60s and my sister is in her 70s. We are interested in doing this type of work, but am wondering if employers have an age limit.
Also, I am wondering about the average pay I can expect. I have to continue working due to losses in this current economy.
Any info you can give a beginner would be appreciated!!
Jackie, It is September 09 and I am just beginning to research the possibility of older/bolder work and travel. I just found out about it from some friends that went to Alaska this summer and then to Florida last winter. I am about to turn 60 and want to travel, but can't afford it so I think this is what I want to do. I am also interested in finding out how you can get a job you like in a place you want to be and how you take care of things at home while you are gone. Anybody can respond.
Thanks to everyone who posted on here. I am new and interested, and I had concerns about where best to work as an older and bolder, as well as the housing. I've already learned a lot in the few minutes of reading. I am 56, single. In great shape and I have lots of work experience. I am in Chicago and completely out of work. Former teacher and insurance exec who now runs a "homestay" in my own place. Ultimate goal is to run a small inn, with a specialty restaurant. I could also shoot for a manager position on here. Great cook. Great host. Speak Fluent French and Spanish. Some German. If anyone else has recommendations or places on CoolWorks to target, let me know. Thanks!
